| Genitive without preposition
There are several instances when the Genitive case can be used without a preposition. We will talk more about this in Unit 10. At this point we will focus only on the Genitive case without a preposition when indicating the of what relationship (a piece of cake).
As you can see in the following examples, words like litra (liter) – kilogram – žlica (spoon) – šalica (cup) can indicate any relationship. For example, one liter of juice – half of liter of water – two liters of water.
jedna litra vode | pola litre vode | dvije litre vode |
jedna litra čaja | pola litre čaja | dvije litre čaja |
jedan kilogram mesa | pola kilograma mesa | dva kilograma mesa |
jedna žlica šećera | pola žlice šećera | dvije žlice šećera |
jedna šalica kave | pola šalice kave | dvije šalice kave |
jedan komad mesa | pola komada mesa | dva komada mesa |
| Numbers with Verbs
